NGX:RT Briscoe tops gainers as investors make N344bn

Investors in the Nigerian equities market gained N344 billion by the close of trading on Friday.

This followed a surge in the share prices of stocks such as Aluminium Extrusions, RT Briscoe and Learn Africa, among others, on the trading floor.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 249,712.37 points from the 249,175.39 points recorded on the previous trading day.

After five hours of trading on the capital market, equity capitalisation rose to N160 trillion from N159.7 trillion posted by the bourse on Thursday.

The market breadth was negative, with 25 stocks advancing, 29 declining, and 93 remaining unchanged in 62,386 deals.

A total of 711,862,568 shares were traded, valued at N29 billion.

Aluminium Extrusions, RT Briscoe and Learn Africa led the gainers’ chart, with 10%, 9.93% and 9.79% growth in share prices, respectively, to close at N9.90, N14.06 and N12.90 per share, up from N9.00, N12.79 and N11.75 per share.

Trans Express, Cornerstone, and The Initiate Place led other price decliners, with declines of 9.92%, 9.24%, and 7.97%, respectively, to close at N5.72, N5.40, and N34.05 per share, down from N6.35, N5.95, and N37.00 per share, respectively.

On the volume index, Fidelity Bank led trading with 192 million shares in 1,009 deals, followed by Access Holding, which traded 58 million shares in 2,570 deals.

Mutual Benefit traded 39 million shares in 461 deals.

On the value index, Fidelity Bank traded stocks valued at N4.4 billion in 1,009 deals, followed by Aradel, which traded equities worth N3.3 billion in 1, 597 deals.

Zenith Bank traded shares valued at N2.6 billion in 2,885 deals.
