1. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has slammed President Bola Tinubu’s administration for failing to meet the expectations of Nigerians, saying the government has no achievements to justify a re-election in 2027. Atiku said this in a statement on Friday while reacting to the recent wave of defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has raised the alarm over the regrouping of Boko Haram insurgents in the Tumbus areas of Lake Chad and the Mandara Hills within the Sambisa Forest in the state. Zulum disclosed this in Maiduguri on Friday when the Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar; Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and other top military commanders paid him a visit.
3. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Friday outlined conditions that would facilitate enduring peace in the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State. Wike, who spoke at a church thanksgiving service in honour of the 70th birthday of the former federal lawmaker, Ken Chikere, in Port Harcourt, stated that peace cannot be restored in Rivers State, except the purpose is sincere from the parties.
4. The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal has upheld the $220 million fine imposed on Meta Platforms Incorporated by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC. The Director for Corporate Affairs of FCCPC, Ondaje Ijagwu, made this announcement in a statement on Friday.
5. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Friday, insisted it will not be silenced in its pursuit for the actualization of Biafra. IPOB was reacting to a warning by the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa that Southerners should stop propagating its activities on social media.
6. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent a high-powered delegation to the Vatican City to attend the burial of His Holiness, Pope Francis, on Saturday, April 26. Senate President Godswill Akpabio is at the head of the five-member delegation.
7. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has declared four Nigerians wanted over the CBEX Ponzi scheme that saw thousands of Nigerians lose millions of naira. The agency on Friday published the names and photographs of the wanted individuals on its official X handle.
8. The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Felix Morka, has said the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar created the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. In an interview with TVC, Morka said Atiku contravened the zoning arrangement which favoured the South.
9. Sole Administrator Ibok-Ete Ibas has requested more time from the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on Rivers State to properly brief the lawmakers on developments in the state. Ibas made the request at a meeting with the committee in Abuja on Friday.
10. Naira recorded the highest appreciation against the dollar at parallel and official foreign exchange markets to end the week on a good note. An exchange of data from a Bureau de Change operator in Wuse Zone 4, Abubakar Alhasan, showed that the naira closed at N1,595 per dollar on Friday compared to N1,610 traded on Thursday.
