NPFL: Plateau United debunk claim of new players’ licence withdrawal

Plateau United have refuted claims that the licences of their newly registered players have been withdrawn.

The general manager of the club, Habila Mutla, stated that the claims were false.

Mutla disclosed this in a press statement on Friday.

The statement reads: “Plateau United officially debunks claims making the rounds on social media and other news platforms that licences belonging to its newly registered players have been withdrawn as a result of outstanding salary debts, saying it is completely false.

“Management’s position is clear that the matter decided via the Players and Clubs Status Committee has nothing to do with outstanding salary debts but relates to the transfer of a certain player from Gombe State-based football club, Yarma Light.

“The said player signed for Plateau United FC on loan three seasons ago, just before the current General Manager, Habila Hosea

Mutla, came on board.

“Findings reveal that the said player’s agent had written an agreement with Plateau United FC that a two million naira compensation upon the completion of the player’s deal will be paid, an agreement said to be violated by the club to eventually attract a five million naira compensation verdict by the Players and Clubs Status Committee.

“Plateau United’s attempt to appeal the verdict failed and, as a result, was compelled to meet the demands of it.”

DAILY POST recalls that the Nigeria Premier Football League announced the withdrawal of licences of newly registered players of clubs who are indebted to players on Thursday.
