The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has temporarily suspended its Warri-Itakpe train service following a minor derailment at the Okpara station in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State. The incident, which occurred around 10 p.m. on Sunday, left passengers stranded overnight. In a statement issued on Monday, December 23, Yakub Mahmood, the NRCs Deputy Director of Public Relations, assured the public that operations would resume by Monday afternoon. He noted that engineers had been deployed to the site to restore the affected track. The management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) hereby informs the general public, especially our valued passengers that ply the Warri-Itakpe route, that following the minor derailment yesterday at the Okpara station, the service will resume shortly as our team of engineers are at the site of the accident to ensure the track is restored anytime soon, the statement said. Mahmood confirmed that trains would resume as scheduled by the afternoon. This is the second derailment along the Warri-Itakpe route in recent months. In July, operations were suspended after a derailment at Abraka railway station, disrupting services between Itakpe in Kogi State and Ujevwu in Delta State. The post
