In order to avert preventable accidents and hazards to their lives and that of passengers, commercial motorcycle riders in Ogun State have been asked to put their safety first and refrain from operating during downpours.
The State Chairman of the Riders and Owners of Motorcycles Organisation (ROMO), Olusola Shotayo, made the appeal over the weekend.
Sholebo noted that while it is necessary to work hard and meet their daily targets, life was more important and should always be prioritized.
He encouraged all members to be law-abiding, safety-conscious, and considerate to other road users, especially during the challenging weather.
The Chairman said, “We understand the hustle and the need to meet daily targets, but no gain is worth the loss of life.
“The rainy season brings slippery roads, poor visibility, and increased danger. We advise all riders to suspend operations during heavy rainfall and always use safety gear”.
Meanwhile, Sholebo assured that the ROMO leadership will continue to engage relevant authorities to ensure better working conditions and safety for its members.
