
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested fourteen suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity at a bush location in the Ipara-Remo area of the state on Saturday.
The suspects, thirteen adult males and one female, were apprehended at about 1:20 a.m. while allegedly planning to initiate new members and conspiring to breach the peace through unlawful assembly.
Those arrested include Solomon Shobamiwo, also known as “Solo Hot”; Farooq Ogunsola; Toheeb Abolade; Balogun Williams; Ayodele Abdulkareem; Adedapo Ogunsanya; Toheeb Saka; Akpan Dara; Michael Olakemi; Habeeb Olayinka; Dapo Adeola; Adetunji Adeyemi; Henry Kingsley, all males and Nanso Blessing, a female.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Saturday, the arrests were part of ongoing sweep operations targeting criminality and threats to public peace across the Isara, Ipara, and Ode axis.
Babaseyi noted that items recovered at the scene include three locally made pistols, 11 live cartridges, four rounds of 9mm Beretta ammunition, criminal charms, confraternity caps, one drum used for cult initiation, 19 mobile phones, one Samsung mini laptop, and nine vehicles of various brands—some without registration plates and others bearing unauthorized dealer plates.
He said, “On 24th January 2026, at approximately 1:20 a.m., actionable intelligence revealed that members of the Eiye Confraternity had gathered in large numbers at a bush location in Ipara-Remo, Ogun State, planning to initiate new members and conspire to breach the peace through unlawful assembly.
“Acting swiftly, a joint team of operatives from the Anti-Cultism Unit and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), supported by personnel from the Ipara/Isara divisions, conducted a coordinated sweep operation, arresting fourteen suspects, comprising thirteen males and one female.
“The suspects are undergoing investigation and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.”
The spokesperson added that the command will continue its ongoing sweep operations and intelligence-led patrols across the axis to apprehend other fleeing suspects and ensure sustained peace, security, and public safety for residents and communities.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, condemned unlawful assembly, breach of peace, and all cult-related criminal activities across the state, urging youths to renounce cultism and criminal associations.
He assured residents, students, parents, and stakeholders that the command remains fully committed to protecting lives and property.
