Frontline Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu has lashed out at the Department of State Services, DSS, for dragging Prof. Pat Utomi to court over his “shadow government” remark.
Yesufu described the secret police as sick.
DSS had dragged Utomi before the Federal High Court in Abuja for allegedly planning to usurp President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
DSS accused Utomi of planning to establish a shadow government in Nigeria.
In a suit filed before the court on May 13 by Akinlolu Kehinde, the secret police prayed that Utomi’s remark be declared as an attack on the constitution.
It argued in the suit that Utomi’s remark was intended to destabilize Nigeria and cause chaos.
DSS expressed concern that such a structure, styled as a “shadow government,” if left unchecked, may incite political unrest, cause inter-group tensions, and embolden other unlawful actors or separatist entities to replicate similar parallel arrangements, all of which would pose a grave threat to national security.
Reacting, Yesufu wrote on X: “DSS is sick and doesn’t know who to tell it that it is sick.”
