Peter Okoye fires back at brother Jude over 'broke' comment and label fallout

Singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, has openly responded to his older brother and former P-Square manager, Jude Okoye.

This is following a recent social media post where Jude appeared to mock him, singer Cynthia Morgan, and other former signees of his record label.

Jude Okoye, in a message shared on June 27, 2025, accused ex-label associates of greed, claiming they left his platform, went broke, and are now looking for others to blame for their setbacks. He also alleged being falsely accused of money laundering and stated he refuses to be blackmailed or pressured.

In a fiery Instagram post, Peter Okoye addressed the remarks of Jude, dismissing his claims and calling him an Agbaya, a Yoruba term for an immature older person. Peter insisted that respect is earned and not automatically given because of age or past connections.

He rejected Jude’s suggestion that he was ever dependent on him, clarifying that Jude worked for P-Square as a manager and was eventually dismissed like others before him. According to Peter, his career as a solo artist has brought him greater financial reward, personal peace, and professional growth compared to the days of splitting earnings within the P-Square group.

Peter’s post read in part: "Just because you're older doesn’t mean you deserve respect. Respect is earned, not given. Calling me broke has always been your wish, even when you made false claims to the EFCC that landed you in prison. Let’s set the record straight, you were never shouldering me. You worked as a manager and got sacked, just like the others before you."

The singer went on to describe his solo journey as more fulfilling, questioning the value of sharing profits and loyalty with people he claims betrayed him. He also hinted at unresolved financial issues and a pending court case between them.

Peter ended his post by saying he’s done playing the role of the “mature one” while being constantly disrespected and declared that he would henceforth treat people the way they treat him.

The Okoye brothers, once known as one of Africa’s most successful musical duos, have had a long and public history of family and professional disputes. This latest exchange has reignited conversations about their fractured relationship.
