The Police Command in Kebbi have arrested two suspected car thieves for stealing a vehicle in Shanga Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of the command, CSP, Nafi’u Abubakar made this known in a statement he issued in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
He said,” On May 19 at about 4:30.p.m, a combined team of Policemen and vigilantes while on routine patrol along Shanga/Dugu road, intercepted an unregistered Peugeot 206 motor vehicle, ash in colour, reasonably suspected to be stolen, driven by one Umar Yusuf and Dalhatu Aminu, all of Birnin Kebbi town.
” When questioned, the suspects zoomed off. As a result, they were pursued and arrested.
” During interrogation, they confessed to having deceived the owner in Birnin Kebbi, that they wanted to buy the vehicle, but on the process of testing, they made away with it.”
Abubakar commended the bravery and professionalism displayed by the combined team of security personnel.
” The Commissioner of Police in the state, Bello Sani, reiterated the Command’s readiness to rid Kebbi State of all forms of crimes.
” The CP also urged the Police to always be vigilant while on duty,” he said.
Abubakar also quoted the Commissioner advising motor vehicle dealers to be wary of some of their customers with dubious intentions during their daily business.
The PPRO added that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation with a view to unravel their modus operandi and arrest the remaining gang members for prosecution.
