Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 42-year-old, Ogbole Henry, for alleged possession of arms and ammunition.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Moses Yamu, who disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Benin City, said the suspect was arrested by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol Team.
Yamu said the operatives were on routine patrol along the Benin-Lagos Road by “Evil Forest” when they intercepted a commercial bus en route from Lagos to Benin.
He said other passengers on board were profiled and released to continue their journey.
He added that subsequent investigation of the suspect led to the recovery of a pump-action shotgun and a Lexus RX 330 linked to him.
The suspect, who hails from Ewu in Esan Central Local Government Area of the state, has since been charged to court.
Yamu said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of his criminal network.
He listed items recovered from the suspect to include two locally fabricated pistols, eighteen 9mm live rounds of ammunition, and 10 live cartridges.
