Police burst kidnapping syndicate, rescue victim, arrest two suspects in Yobe

Yobe State Police Command said its operatives burst a kidnapping syndicate after abducting a 22-year-old girl in Fika local government area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this on Thursday in a statement made available to newsmen in Damaturu.

According to the statement, “On May 6, 2025, at about 1758 hours, unidentified armed individuals attacked the residence of Maikudi in Tashan Randa village, Fika LGA, abducting his 22-year-old daughter and firing shots that injured a neighboring girl.”

“The Fika Divisional Police Headquarters promptly responded, initiating an investigation that led to the rescue of the victim and the dismantling of the kidnappers’ den.

“The police received demands for a N5,000,000 ransom, which facilitated the rescue operation”, the command stated.

It further stated that through collaborative efforts with hunters, detectives arrested two suspects linked to the incident: Waiti Bello, 30, of Jangalawaje Village, and Idrissa Adamu, 35, of Biriri Village, Gujba LGA as other members of the syndicate are
at large and efforts are intensified to apprehend them soon.

“The suspects have confessed to the crime and are cooperating with security operatives. Recovered items include: one Dane gun and one motorcycle”, it said.

The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, in the statement, reaffirmed the commitment of officers and men of the command to eradicating such heinous crimes from the state and called for community collaboration in the fight against insecurity.
