The Taraba State Police Command, on Tuesday, announced the implementation of comprehensive security strategies to ensure public safety during and after the yuletide season.
The initiative was unveiled in Jalingo by the state Commissioner of Police, through Ukachi Opara, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, Yakubu Bala Itse.
The joint security teams, as announced by the commissioner, are made up of personnel from the Police, Military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Immigration, Correctional Services, Department of State Services and Customs.
Adding that, ” the team have been deployed across the state’s senatorial districts..”
The team who according to him, will collaborate with local vigilantes, have been given the responsibility of conducting confidence-building patrols, show-of-force operations, intelligence-led initiatives and enhanced night patrols to deter criminal activities and ensure a peaceful festive season.
Routes to be patrolled, include the Zing-Jalingo to Wukari highway, Jalingo-Lau, Jalingo-Ardo Kola, and the Bali to Sardauna highway.
“Additionally, the Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, and Police Traffic Wardens have been strategically positioned at worship centres to manage traffic flow and ensure public safety.”
Emphasizing the importance of professionalism and respect for human rights during operations, he stressed the need for visible policing and proactive measures to prevent security breaches.
