Adamawa State Police Command is taking steps to curtail spread of violence after hoodlums torched thatched huts in communities in Lamurde and Guyuk, two neighbouring local government areas in southern Adamawa.

The command said in the early hours of Thursday that in two separate incidents reported on 2nd July 2025, unidentified persons set fire to the thatched huts in Lafiya (Lamurde LGA) and Boshikiri village (Guyuk LGA).

“Properties belonging to Mrs. Ododumga Kenneth and Mr. Nura Haruna were completely destroyed in the attacks,” the command said in a statement signed by its spokesman, SP Sulaiman Nguroje.

Nguroje stated that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered a discreet investigation and immediate deployment of police personnel to prevent further escalation and ensure the arrest of the perpetrators.

“The CP warns that anyone found instigating violence or engaging in criminal acts will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law,” Nguroje stated.

He called on residents to remain calm and to report any suspicious activities to the police.
