Prince Harry has reached a dramatic settlement with Rupert Murdoch’s UK tabloid publisher, News Group Newspapers, NGN, over allegations of phone hacking and privacy breaches.
The settlement, announced Wednesday at London’s High Court, includes a “full and unequivocal apology” from NGN and the payment of substantial damages to the Duke of Sussex.
Harry’s lawyer, David Sherborne, revealed in court that NGN admitted to hacking the prince’s phone, conducting surveillance, and misusing his private information through journalists and private investigators.
“News Group Newspapers offers a full and unequivocal apology to Prince Harry for the phone hacking, surveillance, and misuse of private information by journalists and private investigators instructed by them,” Sherborne said.
The case is part of a broader legal fight between prominent figures and British tabloids accused of engaging in phone hacking and other privacy violations.
