Fire has destroyed property worth millions of Naira as four flats at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPCL), Staff Quarters burnt down completely.
The fire incident which started around 9:00 pm on Tuesday lasted for an hour before the arrival of fire fighters.
The use of generating plant by the staff of the NNPCL came to full force following indefinite strike embarked upon by the staff of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company workers following the plan by the management of the company to downsize over 900 workers.
Speaking to DAILY POST Correspondent who visited the scene around 10 pm Tuesday night, one of the affected victims said the fire started from one of the semi detached flats before spreading to others.
“When it started, I was driving into the quarters and saw smoke from a distance. On getting close, I realized that a building on the top floor was on fire.
“We had to lift vehicles of the occupants of the flat to safety as their keys were upstairs and the staircase was already on fire.
“However, no life was lost in the process,” he said.
