The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has deployed 1,889 personnel across Kano State ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr (Sallah) celebrations.
The Kano Sector Commander, Mr Idris Mohammed-Lawal, made this known on Monday in Kano, stating that the move is aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and preventing road crashes during the festive period.
According to him, the deployment includes 1,348 regular marshals and 541 special marshals who will be stationed across the 44 local government areas of the state for intensive patrol operations.
He said, “that the special Sallah patrol will run throughout the celebration period, with officers working round the clock to manage traffic and respond swiftly to emergencies.”
The sector commander added that the operation would be supported with patrol vehicles, ambulances and a tow truck to handle breakdowns and accidents.
He noted that enforcement would focus on offences such as speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, use of mobile phones while driving and other violations.
Lawal also said the corps would work closely with other security agencies to ensure effective coordination during the period.
He, however, pleaded with motorists to comply with traffic rules and ensure their vehicles are in good condition, assuring residents of a safe and hitch free Sallah celebration in the state.
