Senior military officer dies in road crash along Kaduna–Zaria expressway

A senior military officer, Maj. S. Sayyadi of the Headquarters Infantry Corps Command (ICC), has died in a road accident along the Kaduna–Zaria Expressway near the Julius Berger gate, close to Jaji Military Cantonment.

The incident was contained in a post shared on X on Saturday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, who quoted security sources.

According to the report, the accident happened on Thursday when the officer’s vehicle reportedly collided with a Sino truck that had slowed down while trying to enter the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) railway project site around the New Barracks area in Jaji.

Security sources said emergency response teams from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) and the Infantry Corps Command quickly arrived at the scene after the crash.

The officer reportedly suffered severe head injuries and was confirmed dead on the spot.

“His body was later taken to a medical facility before being moved in a military ambulance to Katsina State for burial arrangements,”Makama wrote. 

He was laid to rest in Katsina State according to Islamic rites.

Military authorities have expressed condolences to his family, describing his death as a painful loss to the armed forces.
