The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), led by Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has urged the Federal Government to identify and publicize flood-prone areas to enhance citizen safety and encourage preventive measures.

JNI Secretary-General Prof. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu stressed the necessity for proactive flood control strategies, including early warning systems and the reinforcement of vulnerable dams, particularly those that pose significant risks to life.

The JNI has voiced its concern over the persistent flooding issues in Nigeria, advocating for a comprehensive approach to tackle the problem. The organization expressed sympathy for recent flood victims, offering condolences and support.

The statement noted the severe consequences of flooding in several states, including Maiduguri, where a breach of the Alau Dam led to substantial loss of life and property.
