Tinubu government a failure, opposition can’t afford to split votes in 2027 – Rhodes-Vivour

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has slammed President Bola Tinubus administration, calling it a failure and blaming it for what he described as the worst cost-of-living crisis Nigeria has faced in four decades.Rhodes-Vivour, who was the Labour Partys governorship candidate in Lagos State during the 2023 elections, made these remarks on Tuesday while speaking on Channels Televisions Lunchtime Politics.This government ultimately has been a failure, he said. When you talk about the quality of life, the cost of living this is the highest cost-of-living crisis Nigeria has faced in the last 40 years. The 42-year-old politician also decried Nigerias security situation.You look at security: over 10,000 people have died in the North, about 7,000 have died in the South, he said. You can talk of policies all you want, but if people are experiencing hardship while the government is renovating the vice presidents residence, it says everything. Rhodes-Vivour accused the Tinubu administration of living lavishly at a time when ordinary Nigerians are being asked to tighten their belts.Youre spending money in a way that only a buoyant economy should. Meanwhile, the people are suffering, he added, claiming Nigeria is now ranked as the 10th poorest country in the world. Rhodes-Vivour also stressed the need for opposition parties to unite ahead of the 2027 elections, warning that they cannot afford to split their votes as they did in 2023.The only way we can move this country forward is for the opposition to come together, he said. If you add Alhaji Atiku Abubakars votes to Peter Obis votes, they completely take out the current president.
