A United States of America House of Representatives member and Democrat from California, Ami Bera, has said President Donald Trump has fulfilled his campaign promise to secure the country’s southern border and reduce illegal crossings.
He disclosed this in an interview with Fox News released on X Saturday.
According to him, Trump’s administration has done what Americans voted for by securing US southern borders against illegal crossings.
The US lawmaker, Bera, further called for a boost in border funding.
“Democrat Rep. Ami Bera: “I will give @POTUS success where success is due. The southern border and illegal crossings have gone down. The American public voted for that — and he has delivered,” Bera said during the interview.
Recall that Trump’s administration proposed a boost to the nation’s border security budget by nearly $44 billion annually.
The proposal would see the Department of Homeland Security budget raised by two-thirds to $107 billion, from $65 billion, for fiscal year 2026.
Recently, the United States military set up a second military zone along the border with Mexico.
