Trump demands apology from Maine Gov, Mills over comment on transgender athletes

President Donald Trump has demanded a full apology from the Governor of Maine, Janet Mills over a statement about men playing in women’s sports.

Maine educational authorities were recently accused by the Trump administration of violating the federal law prohibiting sex discrimination by allowing transgender girls to participate in school sports.

DAILY POST reports that Trump signed an executive order in February to exclude transgender girls and women from female-only sports.

However, some critics, including the Democratic governor of Maine claimed that the order infringed on the rights of a tiny minority of athletes.

In a post on his official Truth Social account on Saturday, Trump, who was reacting to a recent comment from Governor Mills on the matter, while at the White House Governor’s Conference, said she must tender her apologies.

The post reads, “while the State of Maine has apologized for their Governor’s strong, but totally incorrect, statement about men playing in women’s sports while at the White House Governor’s Conference, we have not heard from the Governor herself, and she is the one that matters in such cases.

“Therefore, we need a full throated apology from the Governor herself, and a statement that she will never make such an unlawful challenge to the Federal Government again, before this case can be settled.

“I’m sure she will be able to do that quite easily. Thank you for your attention to this matter and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!! DJT”.
