A former Fenerbahce player, Bright Osayi-Samuel has become an unexpected transfer target for Galatasaray.
Galatasaray already have a Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen as their key player.
Osayi-Samuel dedicated four and a half seasons to Fenerbahçe, achieving seven goals and 15 assists in a total of 178 appearances across all competitions.
He played a significant role in their victory in the Turkish Cup during the 2022–2023 season, prior to his transfer to Birmingham City last summer.
As reported by the Turkish sports daily Fanatik, Galatasaray is strategizing for the upcoming season, with Osayi-Samuel emerging as an unforeseen option for the right-back position.
Currently, Roland Sallai is the favored right-back at Galatasaray, with Wilfried Singo serving as his backup.
Given that Singo is drawing interest from other clubs, Galatasaray is exploring other options, including Bright Osayi-Samuel.
The Nigerian international was close to signing with Galatasaray’s Istanbul rivals, Besiktas, last summer, but the agreement fell through at the last moment.
Osayi-Samuel is under contract with Birmingham City until June 2028 and has participated in 22 matches this season, contributing one assist and accumulating 1,242 minutes of play.
The 28-year-old is presently on international duty with the Super Eagles in Turkey and played the full match in a 2-1 victory against Iran last Friday.
