Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry has suggested that Barcelona winger, Lamine Yamal ‘might be better’ than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the future after his brilliant performance for the Catalan club against Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-final first leg tie on Wednesday.
Yamal left many pundits and fans drooling after Barcelona drew 3-3 against Inter Milan at Camp Nou.
The 17-year-old has now played 100 games for Barcelona, with up a remarkable tally of 22 goals and 33 assists.
Speaking on CBS Sports after the game, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher said that watching Yamal was like ‘watching Messi in his heyday’.
Henry, however, then appeared to go one step further and said: “We can talk about a lot of guys who are supposed to be on the throne and whatnot.
“But one thing that amazes me about football is that you always think there is no way someone is going to be better – or might be better – than Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo.
“Or in my time, Pele or [Diego] Maradona… And then Yamal arrives.”
Yamal will hope to continue his impressive display when Barcelona travel to Italy for the return leg at San Siro next week.
