UCL: Toni Kroos pinpoints two Barcelona players who cost defeat to Inter Milan

Former Real Madrid midfield maestro, Toni Kroos has pointed out two players who cost Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg 4-3 defeat to Inter Milan a few days ago.

Barcelona were eliminated from the Champions League at the hands of Inter Milan.

The match ended 4-3 at the San Siro as the Serie A giant progress to the final on a 7-6 aggregate win, having played a 3-3 draw in the first leg.

Speaking on the Einfach mal Luppen podcast with his brother Alex, Kroos blamed defensive duo Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi for Barcelona’s defeat.

According to him, they lacked the speed of Ronald Araújo, adding that it was a risk the Blaugrana took against Inter which he said back fired.

“Iñigo Martínez and Cubarsí are much better than Araújo, but they lack his speed. That makes it even riskier when they get beaten,” Kroos said.

“That is the risk Barcelona took—it often brings great success and impressive wins.

“But I always thought a day would come when that risk would be punished, and it happened against Inter.”

Barcelona will now shift their focus on the LaLiga as they will hope to beat better rivals Real Madrid in Sunday’s El Clasico.
