‘We thought things would be better’ – Coalition reports NNPCL boss to Tinubu

A coalition of economic accountability under the leadership of the Patriotic Nigerian Youth Forum, PNYF, has expressed dismay over the style of leadership in the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL.

The coalition is demanding justice for what they described as high-handedness in the NNPCL under the watch of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bayo Bashir Ojulari.

The coalition called on President Tinubu to order the investigation and audit of activities in the company.

DAILY POST reports that Bayo Bashir Ojulari took office as the CEO of NNPCL following the ouster of the Mele Kyari-led administration in an attempt to reposition the company for greater productivity and efficiency in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President.

In a statement jointly signed by the duo of Comrade Olamide Odumosu and Comrade Haruna Gambari, Convener and Co-Convener of the coalition respectively, the rights group declared that enough is enough, vowing to ensure justice.

The coalition of 52 civil society organizations maintained that, “We are saddened that NNPCL continues to be in practice and optics…

“It was our hope that under Mr. Bayo Bashir Ojulari, who was strictly appointed under the banner, vision, and objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda, there will be transformation in the NNPCL.”

They expressed sadness that nothing has changed since the new CEO took over.

They called on the President to cut down needless overseas trips by the leadership of the state company.

“It is also on record that since assumption of office on the 2nd of April 2025, Mr. Bayo Bashir has not done anything to demonstrate that NNPCL under him will be productive,” it said.
