Why Bayern Munich missed out on signing Cristiano Ronaldo

The reason for Cristiano Ronaldo's failed move to Bayern Munich has been revealed in a latest interview with a former legend of the club.

Former Bayern Munich legend, Dietmar Hamann, in a recent interview has opened up on the reason he believed Cristiano Ronaldo could not complete a move to the Bundesliga giants despite the initial rumors and speculations.

The former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star was full of nothing but praise of Cristiano Ronaldo's illustrious career while expressing regret that the Portuguese legend never graced the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich was rumored to be interested in the forward before his record-breaking transfer to Real Madrid in 2009. However, Hamann explained that Ronaldo's high transfer fee and substantial wages made it challenging for German clubs to secure his services. Notably, Ronaldo had an impressive record against Bayern, scoring nine goals in just eight Champions League games.

In an interview with Instant Casino, Hamann shared: "Cristiano Ronaldo was linked to Bayern Munich when he left Manchester United and I would’ve loved to have seen him playing in the Bundesliga.

"He played and won two of the best leagues in the Premier League and La Liga, for Germany clubs it was always a question over the wages and the transfer fee.

"It would've been great to see how he did in the Bundesliga, but you can have no complaints over his career."
