Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has hinted that he may soon embrace fatherhood, marking a shift from his previously declared stance on having children.

The Last Last hitmaker, who turned 34 on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, made the revelation during his birthday celebration in Lagos. In a video from the star-studded event that has since gone viral, Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, opened up about his new perspective on starting a family.

Speaking in pidgin English, he said: “Na so Jowizaza follow me talk the last time, I come dey think about my life. Omo, I don dey old oh, I for begin born pikins.” The comment was in reference to a conversation with flamboyant businessman and friend, Jowizaza, which prompted Burna Boy to reflect on his personal life and future.

This marks a notable change in tone from May 2023, when the singer publicly stated he wasn’t ready for fatherhood, explaining that he wanted to be fully present for his children when the time came. “I can’t have kids now and not be there for them. When I settle down or get married, then yes,” he had said at the time.

Now, following his recent birthday and introspective conversation, Burna Boy appears to be rethinking his priorities, fatherhood and having children. This is a move that has been met with excitement and support from fans on social media.
