Former Chelsea defender, Tony Dorigo believes Liam Delap could emulate the likes of Didier Drogba and Diego Costa in the years to come at Stamford Bridge if he can handle pressure.
Recall that Drogba and Costa are arguably Chelsea’s best two strikers in the last two decades.
Delap joined the Premier League west London club from Ipswich Town after the Blues triggered his £30million relegation release clause this summer.
Speaking about the 22-year-old striker Dorigo said (via GOAL): “If [Liam] Delap can handle the pressure that comes with playing for Chelsea, I think he has got a great chance of doing that [emulating Didier Drogba and Diego Costa at the Blues].
“Him going somewhere where the manager [Maresca] clearly knows him very well from Manchester City.
“Cole Palmer will be a supply line, so Delap should settle in quickly and could be the man.”
Delap is part of the Chelsea squad playing at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in the US.
The Englishman has one goal in four appearances for Enzo Maresca’s side.
