Chelsea legend, John Terry has mocked James Maddison after Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday.

Tottenham won their first major trophy after 17 years with a 1-0 victory against Man United in the Europa League final in Bilbao.

Brennan Johnson netted the only goal of the match in the first half at Bilbao’s San Mames Stadium.

However, Maddison was among the players who were forced to miss Wednesday’s final through injury.

But the 28-year-old eventually joined his teammates in the post-match final celebrations.

When asked why he change into the Tottenham shirt, Maddison told TNT Sports: “They said I had to, to get the medal.

“I didn’t want to do a John Terry when he went on with full kit [after Chelsea won the 2012 Champions League despite not playing in the final because of injury] and shin pads, but what a special feeling.”

Responding to Maddison’s comments, Terry took to Instagram account to have a laugh at England midfielder.

“I remember my first trophy. Ah bless them [laughing emoji] 16 to go,” Terry said.

“After that performance I think you [Maddison] have a chance. You just have to live for 900 years [laughing emoji].”

Terry won 17 trophies during his impressive career at Chelsea.
