The immediate past Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has consoled the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, over the death of his son and grandson.
Moro represents Benue South senatorial district, known as Zone C in Benue State.
The Senate Minority Leader had lost his son and grandson in the space of 48 hours.
The son, Victor Moro, who had just returned from Turkey, where he had just completed his studies and came home to serve his country under the National Youth Service Corps, died in a fatal motor accident.
His death was said to have occurred barely 48 hours after the grandson, identified as Aba Moro junior, who was about 10 years old, had died.
Ortom described the incident as a heartbreaking double tragedy that words can hardly express, and noted that the pain of losing two family members in such quick succession was beyond comprehension.
Ortom in a condolence message signed by his media aide, Terver Akase on Monday said “that the death of Victor Moro, a young man full of promise who had just completed his studies in Turkey and returned home to serve his country under the National Youth Service Corps, only for his life to be cut short in a fatal motor accident is especially devastating.”
He said that the tragedy had not only thrown the Moro family into mourning but had also brought great sorrow to all the friends, relations and associates, particularly those who know Senator Moro as a committed public servant and leader.
“This is indeed a moment of deep pain and sorrow for my brother and friend, Senator Abba Moro. No words are enough to console a father in this kind of situation.
“My heart goes out to him and the entire family. I pray that God, in His infinite mercy, will comfort them and grant the souls of the departed eternal rest.”
He further prayed that the almighty God strengthen Moro and his loved ones, granting them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
