1. Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked 27 Task Force Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, killing at least four soldiers and destroying several operational equipment. This is coming less than 24 hours after the North East Governors Forum met in the Yobe state capital, Damaturu, and adopted a multidimensional approach to tackle insurgency in the region.

2. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reclaiming ungoverned spaces across the country, especially forests in the North West. The President, who made the promise when he addressed Katsina elders and leaders at a state dinner at Government House said the country must address the security crisis to pave the way for investment.

3. Suspended Rivers Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has returned to the State after a two-week vacation overseas. It was gathered that Fubara touched down at the international wing of the Port Harcourt Airport, Omagwa, around 7pm. A viral video showed the Governor at the airport being received by some aides.

4. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is intensifying its investigation into alleged financial mismanagement at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, focusing on approximately $2.96 billion allocated for refinery repairs. Several high-ranking former officials, including former Managing Directors of the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries, are under scrutiny, with multiple arrests already reported.

5. Following President Bola Tinubu’s planned visit to Anambra State on Thursday, the Anambra State government has adjusted traffic schedule in the state. During the historic visit, the President is expected to commission some projects executed by the Professor Chukwuma Soludo administration.

6. Delta State Police Command has apprehended suspected kidnappers who transferred N70 million from a victim’s bank account after carting away his GLC Mercedes-Benz car along Abraka in Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State. The vehicle was tracked to a hotel in Benin City, Edo State by SP Fabian’s men in collaboration with policemen from the Oba Market Division.

7. The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the detention of three of its officers in connection with the alleged murder of one Abubakar Auwal, who died in police custody under suspicious circumstances. According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the incident occurred following a complaint of stolen trailer truck rims reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Jega on April 15, 2025.

8. The Defence Headquarters has confirmed the arrest of four security personnel aiding terrorist operations in the North-East. The suspects include two personnel from the hybrid forces who had been working alongside troops to combat the insurgency.

9. The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB), Ibaka, Akwa Ibom, has arrested two suspects trafficking 500 kilos of pangolin scales worth N25 million from Cameroon to Nigeria. The Commanding Officer, Capt. Aliyu Abdullah, stated this while handing over the suspects and the items to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in Ibaka on Saturday.

10. Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has condemned the walkout on the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, by a group of women allegedly loyal to the suspended Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers. Wike, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media in Abuja on Saturday, described the incident as an embarrassment to the people of the state.
