
The Executive Governor of Kebbi State, His Excellency, Dr Nasir Idris, has approved the payment of gratuity and death benefits to retired and deceased personnel of the state’s civil service, contract staff, local government councils, and local government education authorities.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Head of Service, Malami Shekare, and signed by the Director of Administration, Rashidu Muhammad-Bala.
According to the statement, the approval covers two phases of payments to beneficiaries across the state.
The first phase spans from 16 March to 15 June 2025, during which a total sum of ₦933,028,860.33 was paid to 404 beneficiaries.
The second phase covers the period from 16 June to 15 September 2025, with ₦932,948,801.39 disbursed to 443 beneficiaries.
In all, the sum of ₦1.86 billion was released to 847 retirees and families of deceased workers, bringing relief to households that have waited for long-overdue entitlements.
Speaking on the development, the Head of Service, Malami Shekare, said the gesture reflects the governor’s people-centered leadership.
“This payment is not just a financial exercise; it is a moral obligation of government to honour those who served Kebbi State diligently and to support the families of officers who paid the ultimate price in service. His Excellency is committed to ensuring that no worker or family is abandoned after retirement or death,” Shekare said.
He added that the Nasir Idris administration remains determined to clear inherited liabilities and restore confidence in the civil service system across the state.
