Timi Frank tasks African leaders on insecurity

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Timi Frank, has called on African leaders to take decisive steps to address the persistent insecurity facing the continent.

Frank, in a statement on Thursday, said the continent’s security challenges can be robustly reduced if leaders show genuine political commitment, work together in practical ways, and encourage inclusive dialogue among all stakeholders.

He urged African leaders to draw inspiration from the Abraham Accords recently referenced by United States President Donald Trump.

According to him, the agreements introduced around five years ago have birthed a fresh approach to conflict resolution by emphasizing cooperation and engagement rather than waiting for all historical disputes to be resolved.

He noted that the Abraham Accord peace model would be particularly helpful in conflict-prone regions such as the Sahel, the Great Lakes, and the Horn of Africa.

Frank added that peace should be understood as a gradual and ongoing process, warning that delaying engagement until conditions are perfect often allows conflicts to escalate.

“Waiting for perfect political conditions before engagement often deepens conflict rather than resolves it.

“With political will, practical cooperation, and inclusive dialogue, African leaders can reduce conflict, strengthen unity, and position the continent as a confident and credible global actor,” Frank said.
